The small town charm of Düsseldorf extends also to the consumer fashion business. The city is compact and orderly and visitors need not travel far to find desired items, compared with other shopping destinations such as New York or London, Hong Kong or Shanghai.
The first port of call just has to be the Königallee, with its wide pavements and majestically attractive trees beside the canal. As well as some local names that still defy the globalised payers with their established stores, many worldwide brands can be found dor to door.
The Altstadt and its sidestreets play host to some younger fashion stores and innovative indiviuals. Farther afiield, small boutiques can be discovered in the districts such as Derendorf, Flingern, Bilk and Oberkassel.
