The Chinese word Shuyao more or less means “to settle down at a place and leave behind all sorrows of your everyday life.” This is essentially the idea of the Shuyao tea lounge on Dusseldorf’s Konigsallee.
The founder, Nicola Baumgartner, who holds a university degree in business education, brought the idea from an enlightening travel to Asia. During several months lasting travel she learned about the inspiring traditions of tea and tea- house culture. Back home she decided to translate the thousands of years old tradition into the needs of our modern everyday- life and opened her own tea lounge.
Realizing that due to our increasingly exhausting and intensive lifestyle we need more time for regeneration and breaks, she has found the adequate philosophy for her work.
With a modern concept of offering exquisite sorts of tea, hot and cold beverages as well as Far- Eastern delicacies she now spoils her guests. These mainly come to relax in the comfortable atmosphere, which acts on all the Asian maxims.
Another service which is “anything but usual” is Shuyao Mobil, the event catering of Shuyao. This special form of catering does not only offer Asiatic finger food or menus, but also services such as massages, tea testing or tea ceremonies. Gifts like tea pearls are also available to round up your event. So you are able to enjoy culinary delicacies and relaxation at the same time.
Shuyao knows what it means to successfully combine the east with the west. If you want to know more about Mrs. Baumgartner’s experiences during her trip to Asia, you may find further information on her blog “east goes west” and find out about her philosophy to go beyond.
